An ordinary bottle (1) is used, which may be partially filled with paraffin or other suitable fuel. The elongated flexible wick (5) has its top end bent over to form a loop, and passes through a tubular holder (6) which fits into the cylindrical neck (2) of the bottle. The top of the holder is flared outward to fit over the mouth of the bottle (3). A part of the holder extends inward (8) to grip the wick. The lower end of the wick dips into the pool of fuel in the bottom of the bottle. A small perforation (12) in the holder allows air to flow into the bottle as the fuel level drops.
