PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a compound of chemical formula (II) [wherein, E is a 1-6C alkyl group which may have a substituent] by a short process without using a silica gel and methylene chloride.

SOLUTION: The method for producing the pyrimidone acetamide represented by chemical formula (II) involves reacting a compound represented by chemical formula (I) [wherein, D is a protective group which can be deprotected under an acidic condition; and E has the same meaning as the above] with formic acid.
