PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve multivalued display by an image display device using electronic balls. SOLUTION: The image display device having a first substrate and a second substrate and rotatable spherical bodies held between the first and second substrates, is arranged so that the rotatable spherical body has at least two areas classified in color; it has at least a first electrode and a second electrode for applying an electric field to the rotatable spherical bodies; the electric field formed at least between the first electrode and the second electrode is applied to the spherical bodies; and the electric field strength has a plurality of different areas in a pixel.
