PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tunnel excavator capable of easily exchanging sliding section seals without any auxiliary method such as ground improvement or the like even under high hydraulic pressure conditions. SOLUTION: The middle drum 3 of the tunnel excavator is partially constituted of a detachable structure, at the same time, a fluid pressure feed seal 18 for sealing between the front drum 2 and the middle drum 3 is provided to an earth and sand entering side rather than the sliding section seals (cut-off seal 16 and dust seal 17), and when the sliding section seals 16 and 17 are exchanged, after the seal has been made between the front drum 2 and the middle drum 3 by means of the fluid pressure feed seal 18, it is so constituted that the sliding section seals 16 and 17 can be exchanged by partially removing the middle drum 3.
