This invention relates to an inkjet ink composition comprising water, an organic pigment and a water-dispersible sulfonated polyester ionomer having an absolute molecular weight from 8000 to 50,000 and containing sulfonated groups in the range of 5 to 30 mol % of the total polyester. It further relates to an inkjet printing method, comprising the steps of: providing an inkjet printer having a piezo print head, said printer being responsive to digital data signals; loading the printer with an inkjet ink composition comprising water, a pigment and a water-dispersible sulfonated polyester ionomer having an absolute molecular weight from 8000 to 50,000 and containing sulfonated groups in the range of 5 to 30 mol % of the total polyester; and printing in response to the digital data signals.
