<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that when any post-processing function instructed by a printer is not present, or when a post-processor has broken down, data are printed out sometimes as they are without performing the post-processing, and the problem that any processing which should not be performed according to some combination of paper sheets is performed. <P>SOLUTION: Prior to the transmission of a printer command or the like to an instructed printer, the printer driver requests the instructed printer for the status information of a post-processor connected to the instructed printer or its state and set paper sheet size or kind and based on the result, the printer driver inhibits a setting which can not be selected.
