<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a hydroxycarboxylic acid compound, capable of directly hydrogenating a dicarboxylic acid compound under a relatively mild condition so as to produce the hydroxycarboxylic acid compound corresponding to the dicarboxylic acid compound in a high yield. <P>SOLUTION: This method for producing the hydroxycarboxylic acid compound comprises hydrogenating the dicarboxylic acid compound in the presence of a catalyst comprising (1) ruthenium metal and/or its metallic compound and (2) rhenium metal and/or its metallic compound, and (3) at least one kind of compound selected from an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, and a metallic compound thereof. A supported catalyst given by supporting (1) the ruthenium metal and/or its metallic compound, (2) the rhenium metal and/or its metallic compound, and (3) at least one kind of the compound selected from the alkali metal, the alkaline earth metal, and the metallic compound thereof on a carrier is used for hydrogenating the dicarboxylic acid compound in the method. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
