WOBBLING ELEMENT, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING WOBBLING ELEMENT, AND IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly durable image display device by reducing the optical performance deterioration of the image display device under a rapid temperature change and a high temperature environment continuing for a long period of time.

SOLUTION: A wobbling element is formed by bonding and joining one or more polarization conversion elements (TN shutter (twisted nematic shutter)) (21, 22) to one or more birefringent plates (31, 32). An adhesive having the hardness of a adhesive cured matter at normal temperatures in the range of 0 or more to less than 95 at at rate of penetration in JIS-K 2220 or in the range of 0 or more to 80 or less in rubber hardness in JIS-K 6253 durometer type A is used as an adhesive (11) for bonding and joining the polarization conversion elements and the birefringent plates or the birefringent plates.
