PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To preferentially make the best use of information from a GPS satellite, of which precision seems to be high, to execute accurate positioning computation. SOLUTION: This receiver/method is provided with a GPS antenna 11 and a GPS receiver 12 for receiving information superposed in a ratio wave coming from the GPS satellite, and a control part 16 for determining the propriety of a high-precision condition, based on whether the number of the receivable GPS satellites conformed with a URA index of a pre-assigned precision index is, for example, 3 or more or not, and for executing the positioning computation based on only received information from the GPS satellite conformed with the precision index when determined as the high-precision condition therein.
