PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of simply manufacturing a polysilane copolymer having improved various characteristics such as solubility to organic solvents and transparency, etc. SOLUTION: This polysilane copolymer is obtained by polymerizing more than one halosilane (a) selected from the group consisting of dihalosilanes, trihalosilanes, tetrahalosilanes, and monohalosilanes, or more than one dihalosilane (b) containing an alkylaryldihalosilane and a diaryldihalosilane, in an inactive solvent and in the presence of magnesium metal component. The polysilane block copolymer is manufactured by adding and reacting a second halosilane component such as a dihalosilane, trihalosilane, tetrahalosilane, and monohalosilane, after a first halosilane component selected from the group consisting of dihalosilane, trihalosilane, and tetrahalosilanes is polymerized. In the polymerization system, at least one of a lithium compound or a metal halogenate may coexist as a catalyst. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
