PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent disengagement of a paper feeding motor from a rotation transmission route in a paper feeder having a changeover means of the rotation transmission route by a planetary mechanism when strong external force is applied to a planetary gear from the rotation transmission route engaging with the planetary gear. SOLUTION: In this paper feeder, rotation of the paper feeding motor 99 is transmitted to rotate a sun gear 101 to a rotational direction shown by a symbol M2, the rotation is transmitted through the first planetary gear 102 to rotate a rotor 93 to a rotational direction shown by a symbol H, and a protrusion part 105a slidingly contacts with a recessed part 94c of a restriction face 941. A second swing member 105 swings in a swing direction shown by a symbol N by energizing force of a coil spring 106, and a cog part 94a of a hopper driving gear 94 and the second planetary gear 103 are rotation- transmissively engaged with each other. The rotation of the paper feeding motor 99 is transmitted to the cog part 94a in a rotation-transmissively meshing state of the second planetary gear 103 addition to the first planetary gear 102 with the cog part 94a.
