PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article transfer method for automating the transfer of an article (commodity) to a basket vehicle. SOLUTION: Height levels of a bottom plate 10 and each partitioning plate 17 of the basket vehicle G positioned in a carrying in/out opening E2a or E2b are measured by hoisting a hoisting block 3 of a stacker crane C. Based on information of the measured height levels of the bottom plate 10 and each partitioning plate 17, a specified article F is transferred by the stacker crane C between an article storing part D and the bottom plate 10 or the partitioning plate 17 of the basket vehicle G. In this method, even when the height levels of the bottom plate 10 and each partitioning plate 17 of the basket vehicle G are different each other, the article F is certainly transferred to a specified bottom plate 10 or partitioning plate 17. When the basket vehicle G is used for displaying the article F as it is, the transfer of the article F can be certainly performed by the stacker crane C even when the height of each partitioning plate 17 is changed in response to the display state.
