PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ribbed paper cup easy to be held with a hand even when high-temperature contents such as boiling water is put thereinto, and also causing no deterioration in a beautiful decoration effect such as picture patterns and letters printed on the outside of the cup. SOLUTION: The ribbed paper cup has a body member and a bottom member, and a plurality of rib-like protrusions are partly formed on the outer periphery of the body. The rib-like protrusions are formed continuously or discontinuously throughout the entire periphery of an upper part of the outer periphery of the body in the longitudinal direction thereof while leaving a spacing among them, or throughout the entire periphery of the upper part of the outer periphery of the body in the lateral direction thereof while leaving a spacing among them. Further, in the manufacturing method for the ribbed paper cup, a laminate is used as a material for the body. The laminate mainly consists of paper whose weighing is 50-300 g/m<SP>2</SP>and whose elongation at breakage is 10% or more both longitudinally and laterally under the environment of 65% humidity. The paper cup is first formed, and protruding portions are then formed on the body. In the next step, the protruding portions thus formed are crushed to form the rib-like protrusions.
