<p>A double deck elevator where shock and vibration are not produced in each cage during adjustment of the distance in a vertical direction between the upper and lower cages. The load exerted on an upper support beam (41) from left and right support arms (22L, 22R) suspendingly supporting an upper cage (20) is measured by left and right upper measurement means (50L, 50R). Similarly, the load exerted on a lower support beam (42) from left and right support arms (32L, 32R) suspendingly supporting a lower cage (30) is measured by left and right lower measurement means (60L, 60R). Because the magnitude of the load exerted on left and right screw shafts (17L, 17R) can be known accurately by the measurement, the drive torque outputted by left and a right drive motors (18L, 18R) are controlled precisely so that shock and vibration are prevented from being produced in each of the cages (20, 30) during adjustment of the distance in a vertical direction between the cages.</p> |
