<p>The invention provides an adjustable insert (10) for use in a duct or aperture with a seal of the type including a flexible envelope for receiving an expansible or expanding filler material or gas for expanding the envelope in an aperture or a duct to be sealed. In one embodiment the insert comprises a non-continuous cylindrical circular cross-section component having a circumferential gap (12) between respective opposite end portions (14) of the insert. At least one of the end portions comprises a tapered inner and/or outer surface (26) for overlapping engagement with the adjacent end portion so that the diameter of the insert can be adjusted for insertion in a duct or aperture by adjusting the degree of overlap of the end portions against the radially outwards restoring force of the insert. The insert provides a continuous lining having a substantially continuous outer surface around the duct or aperture to be sealed.</p> |
