PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed measuring apparatus which has a fast measuring accuracy without separately providing a measurer at a simple speed measuring time. SOLUTION: The speed measuring apparatus has a sensor section having a transmitter for externally transmitting a radio wave as a transmission signal, a receiver for receiving a reflected wafer as a reception signal from an object to be measured, and a mixer for extracting an output signal of a low frequency by the transmission signal and the reception signal. The apparatus comprises a mounting jig for installing a measurer's head; a display unit for displaying a speed by starting a speed measurement when the reception signal of the reflected wave from the object becomes an arbitrary output level or more after the sensor section becomes a waiting state which can measure, and calculating the speed from the period of the output signal waveform from at a speed measurement starting time; and an auxiliary display unit which can confirm an operation of the object by displaying the speed displayed on the display unit before the measurer.
