PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently reduce damping force at a soft side (at a damping force decreasing side) and improve a driving comfort of a vehicle while a necessary response property is secured in a pilot type damping force adjusting hydraulic shock absorber. SOLUTION: A piston 3 interlocked with a piston rod 9 is slidably inserted into a cylinder 2 filling in oil. A damping force adjusting mechanisms 4 and 5 for an expansion side and contraction side of a pilot type are arranged on the piston 3. A spool portion 42 (flow rate control valve) and a valve body 34 (pressure control valve) are arranged in series at a downstream side of a fixed orifice 25, and the pressure between them is fed into a back-pressure chamber 19 as a pilot pressure. A riding comfort of a vehicle is improved so that damping force of the soft side (the damping force decreasing side) at an expansion side is sufficiently lessened by enlarging an opening of the spool portion 42 and valve body 34. Upon lessening the opening of the spool portion 42, the pilot pressure is controlled and, a responsiveness is heightened, according to small change of the valve body 34. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
