<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modulated waveform generator in which modulated waveforms synchronized to the tempo of an automatic playing are generated even though an LFO and an automatic playing means are independently provided. <P>SOLUTION: Base waveforms which are to be the basis of LFO waveforms are generated using a trigger counter and a common counter. At that time, a CPU transmits a trigger to a sound source for every tempo clock (when an F8 of MIDI is generated, for example) and the trigger counter adds a prescribed value to a present value in accordance with the trigger. The common counter conducts interpolation with a specified interpolation rate making the present value of the trigger counter as a target value to generate the present value of the common counter. The present value of the common counter is set to the target value in accordance with the trigger.
