<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining a planographic printing plate having large discrimination between exposed and unexposed regions after exposure and development and having a good staining property when a planographic printing plate is made from a negative image forming material which records using an infrared laser. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming method, a negative image forming material obtained by disposing on a support an image recording layer comprising (A) a radical generator, (B) a radical-polymerizable compound, (C) an IR absorbent and (D) a carboxylic binder polymer is imagewise exposed with infrared laser light and developed with an alkaline developing solution containing di- or higher valent metal ions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
