<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarization element for directing anisotropic fine particles with polarization selectivity to scatter in a transparent medium and extracting a half or more of an incident light as a predetermined linear polarization. <P>SOLUTION: The polarization element 10 has the fine particles 2 with anisotropic shapes directed, dispersed and interfused in the transparent medium 1.
