<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed change brake device wherein a band brake provided at the rear end of a transmission case is replaced by a multiple disc brake, while avoiding obstacles to a vehicle body around the rear end of the transmission case. <P>SOLUTION: Second- and sixth-speed brakes 2 and 6/B, which are positioned on the outer peripheries of a low clutch L/C and third- and fifth-speed and reverse brakes 3, 5 and R/B arranged in axially parallel relation on the outer periphery of a planetary gear set 4, are constructed of multiple disc brakes. A servo piston 27 is provided coaxially with this brake pack 26. The brakes 2 and 6/B, constructed of the multiple disc brakes, avoid variation and instability of transmission performance as compared with band brakes, and since part of pistons does not overhang greatly radially, decrease in degrees of freedom regarding installation is avoided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
