PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make possible the setting of the height of a lift member for adjusting the gap between a pressing plate for a document and an original platen caused when the pressing plate is closed, and to simply carry out height adjustment. SOLUTION: When a height adjustment screw 26 is rotated in one direction to advance a slider 27, a slope 30 for pulling down the slider 27 comes in contact with the slope plate part 28c of a height adjustment plate 28 to lower the height adjustment plate. When the height adjustment screw 26 is rotated in a direction opposite to the above rotating direction to retract the slider 27, a slope 29 for pushing up the slider 27 comes in contact with the slope plate part 28c of the height adjustment plate 28 to raise the height adjustment plate. Adjustable setting of the height is achieved by turning a lift member 11 up and down around a first and second supporting pins 9 and 10 through the ascent or descent of the height adjustment plate, thereby the angle of the pressing plate 2 is changed.
