<p>When selectively beaming light from a liquid crystal display panel (3) having display elements for displaying in time division image signals divided for each of at least three different wavelengths, an illuminating unit (5) for beaming light from LED light sources (5R, 5G, 5B) having at least three different wavelength characteristics in conformity with the time-division display periods of display elements and for each of LED light sources in a display period to thereby illuminate each of the display elements, and one LED light source corresponding to one image signal divided for each wavelength, another LED light source having a wavelength different from that of this one light emitting LED light source is allowed to emit light almost concurrently at a specified light quantity.</p> |
