A firing system is designed to set off the charge at a given distance from the launcher which is sufficiently great to prevent any fragments from hitting the person firing the launcher. The projectile (3), designed to be fired at a target from a launcher (2), has a warhead (14) with a shaped charge which has its axis (38) in line with that of the projectile and is detonated by a firing system (17). The firing system incorporates a detector, a mechanical or electronic timing device and an initiator. The launch tube (2) contains the projectile (3) and a propellant charge (4). It also has a sight (6) and a firing mechanism (8, 9).
