摘要 A titanium oxide photocatalyst containing a metal halide, obtained by effecting heat treatment of titanium oxide and/or a precursor thereof while bringing the same into contact with a reactive gas containing a metal halide of the formula: MXn or MOXn (wherein M=metal, X=halogen, and n=integer) , optionally after heat treatment, stably exerts high photocatalytic activity when exposed to visible radiation. This photocatalyst may be stabilized by bringing the same into further contact with water, or conducting heat treatment, and/or may be brought into contact with a heteropolyacid and/or an isopolyacid so that a metal complex is contained in the titanium oxide to thereby attain further activity enhancement. The thus obtained photocatalyst exhibits novel ESR characteristics. Moreover, there are provided a process for producing the photocatalyst; a photocatalyst dispersion or coating liquid containing the photocatalyst; a photocatalyst function member using the photocatalyst; and a process for producing the same.
