<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar display device which has reduced thickness and weight. <P>SOLUTION: First and second sidewalls of a bottom chassis 370 which oppose each other include a supporting member for preventing a light guiding plate 350 from being moved and a fixing boss for fixing the position of an optical sheet 340. First and second lamp units 352 and 354 are inserted to lamp reception portions formed in opposed second and fourth sidewalls, respectively, and a reflector plate 360, the light guiding plate 350, and the optical sheet 340 are housed. A mold frame 330 is coupled to the bottom chassis 370 on the upper side of the optical sheet 340, and a display unit 320 is fixed to an opened upper surface. Moreover, a top chassis 310 is fixed to the reception portion of a display unit 320 and joined to oppose the mold frame. Accordingly, the bottom chassis 370 can contain a back light assembly, so that the production cost of the planar display device can be minimized. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
