PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoplastic resin composition with its surface scratch resistance improved without degradation in mechanical strength such as impact strength and surface appearance after molding, and high in weather resistance, and to provide a thermoplastic resin composition for laser marking producing moldings excellent in scratch resistance. SOLUTION: The thermoplastic resin composition contains 0.1-50 pts.wt., relative to 100 pts.wt of a rubber-modified thermoplastic resin, of a lamellar clay mineral intercalating an organic compound, and produces the thermoplastic resin composition for laser marking. The lamellar clay mineral is e.g. a smectite- based clay, a montmorillonite-based clay, a mica mineral or the like. As for the organic compound to be intercalated by the lamellar clay mineral, it preferably has a structure with a≥6C alkyl group and ionizable polar groups at its ends. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
