PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide cooling equipment and a cooling method to cool a metal strip after a heat treatment. SOLUTION: The metal strip is cooled by arranging a mist-cooling area after a gas-jet cooling area in a cooling zone. An area in which the temperature of the metal strip reaches the lower limit temperature (200°C) of the transition boiling area is defined as the gas-jet cooling area, and the other area is defined as the mist cooling area.
