The umbrella (10) is assembled of a shaft (12) with an operating button (22b) at its lower end (14), a sliding element (26) vertically movable along the shaft (12), a spreading mechanism (16) of metal ribs (32, 34) arranged in a star-shaped pattern, and the textile cover (10,18). A helical spring (20,52) is positioned additionally between the upper rim of the sliding element and each of the movable joints (40) located between the inner and the outer ribs, creating a tension leading to a quick automatic opening when the sliding element is pushed.
