HV measuring device has a layer (2) applied to one side of an insulator (1) provided with abutting doped regions of opposing conductivity type, subjected to an electrical field generated by the HV to be measured, a current flow proportional to the latter obtained by application of a measuring voltage across the doped regions. The HV is applied across electrodes (G,S) on the rear side of the insulator and the front side of the doped layer.
