METHOD FOR LOG RIPPING USING A RIPPER AND THE RIPPER FOR CARRYING OUT SAID METHOD

The inventive method for log ripping consists in pre-entering a nomenclature of required sawn timber and the criterion for defining an optimum sawing into a computer (44), specifying a sawing optimisation area for a log, selecting at least on one end of trunk at least one point located on the boundary of the optimisation area and in binding, according to selected point, said optimisation area to a ripper co-ordinate system, entering into the computer (44) the geometric parameters of the sawing optimisation area and in generating an optimal sawing pattern associated with a respective calculated sequence of displacement steps for each circular saw blade (1, 2), automatically displaying on the terminal (39) of a control panel (37) the values of said displacement steps for each circular saw blade (1, 2) at each step along the axes of the ripper co-ordinates and in displacing each circular saw blade (1, 2) at said values, according to commands received from the control panel (37) . The inventive ripper for carrying out said method comprises at least one circular saw blade (1 and/or 2), a mechanism for a relative displacement of the circular saw blades (1, 2) along a log and in the perpendicular direction thereto, a microprocessor control system provided with a programmable controller (36), the control panel (37) with the programmable terminal (39), the computer (44) provided with a unit for generating the optimal sawing pattern for the log and an interface unit for connecting the computer (44) and the controller (36).
