摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting method of different kind of optical fibers and multi-fiber optical fiber parts which conduct batch fusion splicing of optical fibers that are multi-fibers and whose mode field diameters are different to each other, with low loss. SOLUTION: This is the connecting method of different kind of optical fibers where, after conducting fusion splicing between optical fibers whose mode field diameters are different to each other, dopants which is added to a core part is thermally diffused by additionally heating the fusion splicing part, and make the mode field diameters of optical fibers match. The optical fiber is a multi- fiber optical fiber 11 where the plurality of number or single-fiber optical fibers are ordered or made into a tape-shape parallel in one line. At the time of fusion splicing, both or one of the multi-fiber optical fibers 11a and 11b are pushed into the other party, and then pulled back in the opposite direction to reduce the gain amount of the fusion splicing part (gain part or loss part outer diameter (a) minus bare fiber outer diameter (b)), and next a fusion splicing part 16 is additionally heated.
