PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing high-purity (meth)acrylic acid, giving the high-purity (meth)acrylic acid containing no malodorous component, by reacting aldehydes contained in crude (meth)acrylic acid with an aldehyde- removing agent, converting the aldehydes into other compounds, and distilling off the compounds. SOLUTION: This method for producing the high-purity (meth)acrylic acid comprises distilling the crude (meth)acrylic acid containing the aldehydes as impurities, wherein the crude (meth)acrylic acid containing the aldehydes is preliminarily reacted in the presence of an acid catalyst and the aldehyde- removing agent which contains an alkylthiol having carbon atoms of 12-16 in an amount of≥98 wt.% and another alkylthiol having carbon atoms of 10 or less in an amount of≤5,000 ppm in weight.
