PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the hydrogen separating efficiency of a hydrogen separating apparatus provided with a hydrogen separating membrane from being decreased with time and to prevent the chemical reaction efficiency of a membrane reactor from being decreased with time, which is provided with the hydrogen separating membrane and a chemical reaction catalyst for performing the prescribed chemical reaction. SOLUTION: This hydrogen separating apparatus 11 is provided with the hydrogen separating membrane 5 and a photocatalyst for oxidizing carbon monoxide and/or a sulfur compound when irradiated with light.
