<p>An apparatus (14) for forming a trench in a seabed (12) for burying a line (11) generally consisting of a main frame (16), at least one buoyancy tank (28, 29) mounted on the main frame (16), a pair of endless track assemblies (18a, 18b), each engageable in gripping relation with a side of the line (11) for propelling the frame (16) along the line (11), a pair of jet legs (90, 91) mounted on the main frame (16) and communicable with a source of fluid under pressure, for ejecting high velocity streams of fluid to dislodge portions of the seabed (12) when the track assemblies (18a, 18b) grip the line (11) and propel the main frame (16) along the line (11) to form a trench and allow the line (11) to fall therein.</p> |
