Stent (10) for treating or preventing aneurysms comprises a lattice-like peripheral wall including a hollow chamber open on its front sides. The peripheral wall is formed by bars (12) and mesh openings (18). A part of the bars form a zig-zag or meandering shape and are connected together at the node points. Each mesh is delimited on all sides by the bars and can be expanded. The peripheral wall is structured so that the stent can be expanded. Preferred Features: The stent has a diameter of 30-50, preferably 40-45, mm in its expanded state. The bars form a ring (14) delimited in the longitudinal direction. Two neighboring rings are joined together via 4-7 connecting bars (16). The mash area is 0.8-12, preferably 1 cm2.
