The chip has a multiplicity of standard cells arranged in mutually adjacent rows (27, 28) and power supply tracks disposed to connect the cells to one of other units of a semiconductor chip and its terminals. Signal track regions are defined to arrange them adjacent to the power supply tracks of the cells. A respective power supply track is a shortened track so that an adjacent signal track region is enlarged. An Independent claim is also included for a method of fabricating semiconductor chip.
