A filter for cigarette characterized by extract from Vernonia Cinerea (L.) Less contained therein, and a cigarette having the filter fitted thereto, whereby such specified smoking saving effect and smoking prohibiting effect that the habit of smoking and the desire of smoking by a smoker can be satisfied sufficiently without altering the original taste of the cigarette itself, and the number of smoking cigarettes can be reduced most easily while continuously smoking without interruption can be provided effectively.
