<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a polarizing glass product whose bonding loss is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: A batch containing a supply source of silver, copper or copper - cadmium, and at least one type of another halogen is melted. A melted object is formed to the glass product and is cooled. The glass product is exposed to a high temperature over a sufficient period for generating and precipitating the crystal of halogenated silver, halogenated copper or halogenated copper - cadmium. The glass product is extended under stress at a temperature higher than the annealing point of glass to extend the crystal in the direction of the stress. The extended glass product is exposed to a reducing atmosphere at a high temperature to start reducing to metallic silver or copper.
