CALCIUM SILICATE THERMAL AND HEAT INSULATING MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel calcium silicate thermal and heat insulating material which permits the reproduction and utilization of recycled powder of calcium silicate, and a method for manufacturing the same.

SOLUTION: The calcium silicate thermal and heat insulating material has an endothermic peak at 250 to 350°C in differential thermal analysis and is≤2.0% in thermal shrinkage rate at 650°C. The calcium silicate thermal and heat insulating material is formed by adding 20 to 400 pts.mass water and 2 to 40 pts.mass binder to 100 pts.mass calcium silicate raw material powder, molding the mixture for molding obtained by mixing such mixture to a prescribed shape and curing the resultant molding. The binder is a powdery or pasty reaction product obtained by mixing 15 to 35 pts.mass aluminum hydroxide or alumina hydrate, 100 to 400 pts.mass water, and 30 to 50 pts.mass alkali metal hydroxide to 100 pts.mass calcium silicate powder.
