PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately control the operation of a vehicle by estimating the distance between a connecting part and a rear axle of a trailer by a simple measurement and calculation. SOLUTION: A front/rear acceleration sensor 17 detects an acceleration in the front/rear direction of the connecting part D between a tractor 11 and a trailer 12, a vertical acceleration sensor 18 detects the acceleration in the vertical direction of the connecting part D, and a stroke sensor 19 detects the vertical stroke of a rear suspension of the tractor 11. A controller 22 calculates the distance L between the connecting part D and the rear axle 12a of the trailer 11 based on the respective detection outputs of the front/rear acceleration sensor 17, the vertical acceleration sensor 18, and the stroke sensor 19.
