The L-section stone (1) has a vertical wall (3) and a foot (2) with a slightly sloping top surface on the side facing away from the road (4). The configuration is designed to prevent the frogs and toads from leaping to the top of the wall. The ends of the curb sections butt together and have triangular-section grooves (7,7a) which together accommodate square-section seals. There are trays (6) at the bottom of the ends of the curbs on the road side (5). Each tray has a drain (T), and two end trays fit together to make a single rectangular tray with a low vertical wall at each end and on the side facing away from the wall.
