METHOD OF DETECTING ROAD SURFACE CONDITION, AND DETECTOR THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that a vehicle is photographed in a detection area for a photographed road surface condition to reduce judgement precision for the road surface condition by an image of the vehicle, in a conventional photographing method using a timer to detect the road surface condition, and to solve such a problem that a facility gets larger in scale and gets more expen sive in price, in a method using a vehicle sensor. SOLUTION: This road surface condition detecting method for processing an image photographed by a TV camera to detect a wet condition and a frozen condition of a road surface, is characterized in that a brightness addition value is found in a differential image provided by differentiating images before and after a photographed time, and the road surface condition is detected based on the photographed image when the brightness addition value is smaller than a preset brightness value.
