PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vaccine for reliable diagnosis, prognostic intermediary, and prophylaxis and/or therapy for the disease and an immunotherapeutic remedial agent. SOLUTION: A polypeptide including a newly characterized HCV epitope, a method of producing the same, the use of such polypeptide, e.g. as an diagnostic agent, vaccine, or a therapeutic agent, and products, compositions and preparations suitable for such uses, e.g. for immunoassay or polypeptide immobilized to other supports or oral or injectable pharmaceutical composition are provided.
