Use of adhesion molecule inhibitors which are useful in preventing and treating inflammatory diseases caused by the infiltration of leukocytes such as monocytes, lymphocytes and eosinophils by inhibiting cell infiltration mediated by adhesion molecules, in particular, adhesion molecule VLA-4. Spir o derivatives which have an excellent effect of inhibiting cell adhesion mediated by adhesion molecules, in particular, adhesion molecule VLA-4 and, therefore, are useful as remedies for various inflammatory diseases.
