<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To alleviate a post-treatment process and to prevent secondary pollution in treating activated carbon with organic halogen compounds adsorbed thereto with recovering, incineration, reclamation or the like by decomposing the organic halogen compounds adsorbed thereto. <P>SOLUTION: The activated carbon with the organic halogen compounds adsorbed thereto is brought into contact with a culture liquid of methanotrophs. Thereby the organic halogen compounds are dehalogenated and decomposed. While making the organic halogen compounds adsorbed to the activated carbon gradually migrate into the liquid phase, the organic halogen compounds are decomposed and dehalogenated via conjugate metabolism by methane monooxygenases of the methanotrophs and halide ions are eluted into the liquid phase. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
