PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an N-carbamoyl-α-propargylglycine derivative which can easily be derived into a propargylglycine derivative useful as a synthetic intermediate for medicines, agrochemicals and physiologically active substances, and to provide a method for producing the compound from an easily available raw material in a simply operation. SOLUTION: This method for producing the N-carbamoyl-α-propargylglycine derivative comprises hydrolyzing a hydantoin derivative having a substituted propargyl group at the 5-position with hydrantoinase.
