The invention concerns a method and a device based on the measurement of chlorophyll fluorescence, simple, economical, self-contained, usable on plots of crop and non-destructive for the plant, capable of delivering an immediate response on the health condition of the plant and of identifying one or more nutritional deficiencies, such as iron, manganese, magnesium, boron, nitrogen, calcium deficiency. Said method comprises at least the following steps: a) indexing, in a databank, reference parameters determining possible nutritional deficiencies of level I, b) indexing, in another databank, agro-environmental parameters determining possible nutritional deficiencies of level II, c) configuring the fluorometry apparatus by selecting the agro-environmental parameters corresponding to the real situation of the plant and measuring the plant chlorophyll fluorescence, d) comparing the mean of the measured fluorescence parameters with the reference fluorescence parameters and, in case of deficiency, deducing therefrom the possible level I nutritional deficiencies which are compared to the possible level II deficiencies to deduce therefrom the real nutritional deficiencies of the plant.
