<p>A rotary engine (10) includes a cylindrical rotor (14) having four spaced apart vanes (40) therein mounted in a stator housing (12) having an oblong perimeter casing (30) which defines generally crescent shaped, diametrically opposite first and second working chambers (42, 44) in which the rotor vanes (40) travel. Inlet and outlet ports (48, 52) are disposed at respective ends of the working chambers (42, 44), and a flow chamber (56) is joined to the casing (30) between the working chambers (42, 44). The flow chamber (56) temporarily stores compressed fluid from the first working chamber (42) and discharges it into the second working chamber (44) wherein combustion takes place for rotating the rotor (14).</p> |
