The invention refers to a connector for rigid pipes of medium or large diameter that are made of plastic, composite materials or metal, and are used to transport gas, liquids or powdery materials of various kinds, and is an improvement of the invention patented with number RO-106604. According to the invention, the connector includes two pipe ends (1 and 2), each of which is provided with a circular protuberance (a, b), and an air chamber (3) which is fixed, by means of two half clamps (4), over the adjacent ends of the pipes to be joined; the distance between the two side wings (c, d) of the half clamps (4) is correlated with the distance between the extremities of the two circular protuberances (a, b), when the two pipe ends are positioned close to each other so that they will be joined together by tightening the half clamps. The profile of the air chamber (3) is linked with the space created in between the half clamps (4) and the pipe ends (1 and 2).
